Career and Educational Background
Michelle is a very educated and qualified individual and has all the accolades to show for it. She currently boasts a Bachelor’s degree in American studies from the University of Virginia and an extension in journalism from UCLA. She was at the University of Virginia between 2007 to 2011. While she was there, she was involved in several activities including the Virginia Dance Team, Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership as well as the Madison House.
Early Career
You might want to know that Michelle started her career quite early and has remained consistent throughout her professional journey. As you would expect, she started with internships, doing several of them at some very noteworthy stations.
Her first internship came between September 2014 and January where she worked as an entertainment Unit/Newsource intern at CNN. Michelle did several things that added to her experience and expertise in the field of journalism, including writing broadcast scripts, conducting research via the Internet, and assisting producers during shoots.
Michelle had her second internship at Wenner Media where she worked as an editorial intern on the Us Weekly Magazine. She was tasked with conducting research via the internet and social media and finding newsworthy story ideas as well as conducting field reporting.
She had her last internship at Disney ABC Television Group where she worked from February 2015 to September 2015.
Professional Career
After completing her several internships and now boasting an amazing track record in reporting and producing, Michelle landed her first job at Tribune Media (KTLA 5) on the station’s assignment desk. She worked directly with assignment managers to gather news and other corresponding information.
After spending 10 months at KTLA 5, she ended up at Nexstar Broadcasting Group where she had her on-set debut. She co-anchored daily morning shows for KTVE and KARD. Aside from her fieldwork, she also worked as a morning show producer.
Between May 2018 to March 2020, she worked as a reporter for CBS Boston as well as a fill-in anchor. Just to mention a few things she did at WBZ, she was involved in delivering on-air reports, writing and producing “look live” packages, and generating social media posts on X and Facebook. Just a brief walkthrough the rest of her career, she joined NBC News as an anchor and host for “Morning Report”, and “Early Today”. Thereafter, she joined BNC in Tallahassee, Florida as an anchor and host. Michelle hosted “BNC Go Morning Hype”.
She joined ABC7 LA as an anchor and reporter in November 2022 and currently works as a weekend anchor as well as a general assignment reporter. She also hosts a podcast, “Headline Rewind, with Michelle Fisher”, on Ebony Magazine Podcast Network.
Personal Life
Michelle was born and raised in Virginia and is the proud daughter of two former broadcast journalists (guess it runs in the family😅). She is a dog mom to her Shih Tzu, Lucy. She celebrates her birthday on December 18 every year and is a proud Sagittarius.
