Let’s start from the beginning, shall we? From June 2013 to June 2015, Star attended Los Angeles Valley College, earning her Associate of Arts in Communication and Media Studies. After graduating from Los Angeles Valley, she joined California State University, Northridge where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism, graduating in May 2018.
But is she certified though? Yes, she indeed is. She joined Mississippi State University where she earned her certificate in Broadcast Meteorology, atmospheric sciences, and meteorology. It may come as a suprise to many, but Star actually made her debut on set during the Texas Winter Storm in 2021. She covered record weather for Houston and all impacted areas throughout Texas, making her face more popular across the whole of Texas. When she was at KREX News, she created a segment, “Wanna be a weather Star”, whose main aim was to give children a day in the life experience of a broadcast meteorologist. She also created “Weather Wednesday” at KIAH.
Career
Immediately after she got her degree from California State University, she joined ABC7 Los Angeles as a news assistant and served in this capacity from October 2016 to October 2018. She then went on to join KREX TV as a full-time meteorologist (after getting her certification of course). Star had one more stopover before finally landing at PIX11. She worked as a weekday morning meteorologist for KIAH TV in Houston, Texas for a year, between January 2021 and April 2022. While in Houston, she worked on the “No Wait Weather + Traffic” morning show and also as a host for “Houston Happens”.
Star Harvey joined PIX11 in April 2022 and has worked at the station ever since. She currently works as a weekend morning and evening meteorologist. In the morning, you can usually catch her on your screens from 8 to 10 a.m. and also weekdays as a feature reporter. For her remarkable work reporting on the weather, Star has been nominated for the Emmy award twice.
Personal Life
A question that arises ever so often is, “Is Star Harvey married?” I can gladly confirm that at the moment, she is not married and is a very successful and dedicated single mom. Star Harvey has a son named Bryce, whom she never fails to shower with love and affection on social media. She usually shares heartwarming posts about her son on her Instagram page and has a very close relationship with him. Bryce, who turned 12 on June 8, 2024, is also very fond of his mom and usually accompanies her on business trips aside from hanging out with her.
Star is also very close to her dad, on Father’s Day, she recreated a photo of her with her dad with her sitting on her lap. Along with the post, she shared a very long heartfelt message pouring out her love for her father.
